Sections

The National Sports Council has sections for preparing matters. The sections are appointed by the Ministry of Education and Culture after consulting the Council. Each section has a chairperson and a maximum of eight other members. The chairs of the sections must be members of the National Sports Council. The sections of the Sports Council for the period 2019–2023 are:

  1. Research, Foresight and Evaluation Section
  2. Section for Non-discrimination, Equality and Sustainable Development
  3. Section for Sports Conditions and Facilities
Research, Evaluation and Foresight Section

The task of the Research, Evaluation and Foresight Section is to prepare and coordinate the evaluation and foresight tasks of the National Sports Council and to submit initiatives to the Council on topical issues related to sport science, knowledge management and foresight. The section prepares an opinion for the Council on grants for sport and health science research, science information communication and sport and health science activities. It is also tasked with encouraging the systematic use of research and foresight data on physical activity in the planning of sport policy and in the assessment of measures.

Section for Non-discrimination, Equality and Sustainable Development

The Section for Non-discrimination, Equality and Sustainable Development prepares opinions, initiatives and proposals for the National Sports Council on topical issues relating to non-discrimination, equality and sustainable development in physical activity. It also prepares and coordinates the evaluation task of the National Sports Council from the perspective of non-discrimination, equality and sustainable development. In addition, the section promotes the use of research data on non-discrimination, equality and sustainable development in the planning of sport policy and in the assessment of measures.

Section for Sports Conditions and Facilities

The Section for Sports Conditions and Facilities prepares strategic guidelines for the construction of sports facilities and their conditions (strategy document) as well as opinions, initiatives and proposals for the National Sports Council on topical issues related to the conditions in mobility, physical activity and sport. The section also coordinates the evaluation tasks of the Sports Council from the point of view of mobility, physical activity and sports conditions and promotes the use of research data related to conditions when planning sport policy and the assessment of measures.
